Coach Keith LeClair
(Feb. 28, 1966 - July 17, 2006)
This page is dedicated to the memory of Coach LeClair who will always be our Skipper.
As a graduate of ECU, I know what Coach LeClair has done to put our baseball program on the national map. His career statistics are impressive to say the least but even more impressive is the way that he lead off the baseball diamond. LeClair did not stop coaching when he was diagnosed with ALS. I have heard many wonderful stories of how he has had such a positive impact on the lives of his players and countless others. Coach LeClair’s story is inspiring to say the least and I commend him and his wife Lynn for displaying amazing courage in the face of this terrible disease.
For those of you who are new to ALS, please allow me to give you a quick orientation. ALS is short for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, although many recognize it by another name "Lou Gehrig's disease". The disease causes progressive paralysis as the nerves that control muscle movement whither and die. While there is presently no cure for ALS we have many reasons to be hopeful. The ALS Association is recognized as the preeminent organization in the pursuit to conquer ALS. We are spending more money than ever before to uncover new treatments and the eventual cure. Our mission is very simple: To find a cure for and improve living with ALS. We are gaining momentum and there is hope but we are not there yet. We must push forward to win this fight and we need your help to do it!
In conclusion, I would like to let you know that there are many ways to become involved with our cause. You can volunteer, join one of our many Walks in a city near you, play in one of our Golf Tournaments or simply make a donation. Please take a few minutes to learn more by exploring our website.
Together for a Cure,
