Paul Marinaccio helps raise awareness for ALS

Marinaccio Wins Title - Fights ALS

Raleigh, June 26, 2006

The ALS Association Jim "Catfish" Hunter Chapter would like to thank Paul Marinaccio, WBF Heavyweight All-Americas belt Champion for helping us fight ALS. Paul became involved with our Chapter shortly after his hero, Mike Skipper was diagnosed with ALS in 2004. Since then, Paul has made it his personal mission to "Knock Out ALS" by participating in the Triangle Walk to D'Feet ALS and by using his celebrity to raise much needed awareness for our cause.

On Saturday night (6-24-06), Paul won his title fight at the RBC Center Carolina Brawl in Raleigh against contender Benito Fernandez. Prior to the fight, Tracy Silver (Paul's girlfriend and daughter of Mike Skipper) presented a check to Jerry Dawson, President of the Catfish Chapter in the ring. This was a personal donation of $2,000 from Paul in memory of Mike Skipper, who lost his battle with ALS nearly a year ago.
