J. Carter Ward, D. D. S., one of Wilmington’s leading general dentistry offices, and the Jim "Catfish" Hunter Chapter of The ALS Association are pleased to announce they have awarded the Walk with the Doc Challenge award (dental services valued at $2500) to Cindy Talbert of Wilmington.
The challenge was created to benefit the Chapter’s Wilmington Walk to Defeat ALS™, which was held on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the UNCW campus. For every $500 raised by a Walk participant, participants received an automatic entry into J. Carter Ward, D. D. S.’s “Walk With the Doc” challenge and the chance to win free dental services. Mrs. Talbert raised over $3600 for her team, Team Talbert, honoring her mother from Florida who is currently battling ALS.
“I’m just doing this for ALS,” Cindy Talbert noted. “I’ve never won anything in my life. It’s put a smile on my face!”
With the “Walk With the Doc” challenge, J. Carter Ward, D. D. S. remembered Jack Ward, Dr. Carter’s father who passed away from ALS.
In addition to the challenge, J. Carter Ward., D. D. S. participated as a corporate Walk team, “Ward’s Warriors.” In their first year participating, the team raised over $200 as well as participating as a monetary sponsor. The Wilmington Walk to Defeat ALS™ is an annual event which raises money to help find a cure for ALS and provide assistance and grants to patients with ALS.
